Senior Pet Care
Our older pets need just a little extra care and love to make sure they’re feeling and performing their best. On a twice-yearly basis, we recommend bringing them in for their annual wellness exams where we’ll check them from nose to tail. During this exam, we’ll check your pet’s weight to ensure there aren’t any big changes, their vital signs, skin and eyes for symptoms of disease, ears, nose and mouth for abnormalities, and heart and lungs.
Older Pets Signs
In older pets, we often look for signs of developing cataracts, which may lead to clouded vision and can lead to blindness if untreated. Senior cats and dogs may be more prone to infections, so we’ll be sure to carefully look for changes in bodily functions. They may start to develop longer-term diseases or conditions, like arthritis and diabetes, that respond to treatments best in their early stages.
We will likely suggest running diagnostic checks on your pets as part of their visit. Although examinations are great for finding out what’s wrong in places that we can hear, see or feel, it doesn’t tell us how our pet’s internal organs are functioning.
Comfortable and Happy Years
We’d like to make sure that your pet has as many comfortable and happy years with you as possible. Please feel free to reach out to us with any questions you may have or to schedule an appointment today.
